Air Jordan 3
Sizing & fit guide

Our verdict
True to size
The Air Jordan 3 fits true to size for most wearers. A minority find recent retros run a touch large and drop a half size, but the consensus is to take your normal Nike size — the AJ3 has a structured, slightly padded fit that breaks in over the first few wears.

Why the Air Jordan 3 fits this way

Across the Air Jordan 3 sizing discussion, true to size is the prevailing recommendation. A representative reply: "At release I noticed many people saying they fit a half size large. I got mine in my true size and I find them to fit TTS. These... are a bit more generous width-wise when compared to the 2016 True Blues or 2018 BCs but not enough that I'd go down a half size." Another wearer who is 9.5 in the AJ1 Low OG was advised to "stay at a 10... some J3 have a little less padding but not enough to go down a half size, and going up a half size would make them a little big."

There is a real minority that sizes down a half: "I'm a regular size 9 and I went down half a size to a 8.5 and it fits perfectly," and another who bought 8.5 when normally a 9 found them "a little tight, but nothing too bad... true to size, basically." That split is why some buyers perceive the 3 as running slightly large — but the weight of opinion, and the cleaner outcome, is TTS.

Width varies by release year: recent retros are described as a bit more generous than the 2016–2018 cuts, which ran tighter. If you have narrow feet and want the snuggest possible fit, a half down is defensible; everyone else should go true to size.

Common scenarios

I wear US 10 in Nike running shoes. What size Air Jordan 3?

US 10 — true to size. If you have narrow feet and want a snug fit, US 9.5 is a defensible half-down, but most wearers are happiest at TTS.

I'm a 9.5 in the AJ1 Low. What size AJ3?

Stay at your true size — wearers who are 9.5 in the AJ1 Low report the AJ3 fits well at the same size; going up ½ tends to feel too big.

Do older AJ3 retros fit differently?

The 2016–2018 cuts (True Blue, Black Cement) ran a bit tighter through the width; recent retros are slightly more generous. Same TTS length recommendation applies.
