New Balance 550
Sizing & fit guide
Two ways to fit it
For narrow/standard feet stay true to size (the 550 is TTS in length). For wide feet or a roomier toe box, size up ½ — the forefoot runs narrow.

Why the New Balance 550 fits this way
The New Balance 550 is a true-to-size shoe in length with a clear narrow-forefoot caveat. Wearers split between TTS and a half up depending on foot width: "They look a bit long on foot but they fit TTS" versus "550s are really narrow towards the front, always go half size up on these — I'm telling you from experience" and "I had to go half a size up." The pattern is consistent: the length is true to size, but the toe box is snug, so the half-up is a width fix, not a length correction.
The 550 is a fairly structured leather basketball-style shoe — one wearer describes it as "almost like wearing low-top boots." That structure means the toe box doesn't give much, so wide-foot wearers feel the narrowness and benefit from the half up, while narrow and standard feet are comfortable at true size.
Net: true to size for narrow and standard feet; size up a half if you have wide feet or want a roomier toe box. The leather softens a little with wear but the forefoot stays the snuggest part. When choosing between TTS and ½ up, base it on your forefoot width.
Common scenarios
I wear US 10 in my normal sneakers. What size NB 550?
US 10 if you have narrow or standard feet — the 550 is true to size in length. Size up to US 10.5 if you have wide feet or want a roomier toe box.
Why do people say to size up?
The 550 runs narrow through the forefoot. The half-up is a width fix for wide feet, not a length issue — narrow feet are fine at true size.
How does the 550 compare to a Dunk?
Both are true to size in length, but the 550 is narrower up front and more structured, like a low-top boot.
