Hoka Mach 6
Sizing & fit guide

Our verdict
True to size
The Hoka Mach 6 fits true to size in length, but it's one of Hoka's narrowest, lowest-volume trainers — the midfoot and toe box run snug. Narrow-footed runners love the locked-in fit at true size. If you have normal-to-wide feet, size up a half or buy the Wide, because the standard width is genuinely tight.
Medium confidence

Two ways to fit it

Narrow feet should buy true to size for a secure, locked-in fit. Normal-to-wide feet should size up a half (or, better, buy the Wide) because the Mach 6 runs narrow and low-volume.

Why the Hoka Mach 6 fits this way

The Mach 6 is Hoka's lightweight, do-everything daily trainer, and on length it's true to size — order your usual running size. The defining fit characteristic is how narrow and low-volume it is. This cuts both ways: narrow-footed runners are some of the shoe's biggest fans ("I LOVE the narrowness of HOKA — as a narrow-footed runner I feel very locked in"), while runners with normal-to-wide feet repeatedly describe the midfoot and toe box as tight.

The shoe has a reputation for running "pretty tight/small" — some buyers order two sizes and keep whichever fits best. The common fixes are to size up a half for more volume, or to buy the Wide. Be aware that even a half-size up doesn't always solve a tight midfoot for wider feet (one runner found the Mach X2 still tight in the midfoot after going up a half), so genuinely wide feet are usually better served by the Wide version than by sizing up.

Bottom line: true to size in length. Narrow feet should buy true to size and enjoy the lockdown. Normal-to-wide feet should size up a half or go Wide — this is one of the snugger shoes in Hoka's lineup.

Common scenarios

I wear US 10 in running shoes. What size Mach 6?

US 10 for length. If you have narrow feet you'll love the snug fit at true size. Normal-to-wide feet should consider US 10.5 or the Wide, since the Mach 6 runs narrow and low-volume.

I have narrow feet and struggle with shoes feeling loose. Is the Mach 6 good?

Yes — narrow-footed runners specifically praise the Mach 6 for feeling locked-in and secure. Buy true to size.

I have wide feet. Size up or buy Wide?

Buy the Wide. A half-size up adds some volume but often still leaves the midfoot tight on wide feet, whereas the Wide addresses the forefoot directly.

How it compares to other models

  • Hoka Clifton 9 Medium confidence

Both fit true to size, but the Mach is noticeably narrower and lower-volume than the softer Clifton — if the Clifton already feels snug, the Mach will feel tighter

  • Hoka Bondi 8 Low confidence

The Mach is the lighter, faster, much narrower shoe; the Bondi is the soft, roomier max-cushion option. Both true to size in length
